Artzainak series

Born in the Basque Country and now living in Hendaye, Arnaud ELISSALDE has spent more than three years alongside several shepherds around Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, sharing their daily lives and their relationship with the land. Through photography, he explores their world with a sensitive eye for the harshness of the elements, the solitude of their gestures and their deep attachment to the land. More than a documentary project, his approach is an intimate immersion, where the camera becomes an extension of the shepherd's gaze. The photographs evoke fragments of a living memory, witnesses to ancestral gestures and quiet signs of a deep bond with the land, the animals and the sacred. The work follows the slow pace of the cycles, the repetition of the gestures that shape daily life and pass on ancient knowledge. The presence of people alongside animals, the rhythm of the landscape and the seasons emerge like the whisper of a heritage handed down through the generations. The ARTZAINAK series is made up of a first set of eleven black and white photographs.

Finnish Noir series

The Finnish Noir series offers a journey through Nordic landscapes where the ordinary slides into a kind of unease. Deserted roads, isolated houses, forest edges and low light make up images that are both simple and unsettled. Like a fragmented story, the series moves forward through clues: a trace, a suggested presence, a space left hanging. Each scene seems to hold something other than itself, a quiet tension, ready to surface. Finnish Noir thus invites a sensitive experience, where each photograph acts as a suspended moment, between waiting, silence and the possibility of a story.

Winter Sonata series

The Winter Sonata series offers a visual journey in which the winter landscape becomes a source of sensation. Between silence, cold light and mineral textures, the images form a delicate score, both intimate and contemplative. Like a sonata, the series unfolds in subtle variations: plays of shadow, fragments of nature, suspended moments. The eye gets lost in these bare spaces, where time seems slowed down, almost frozen. Winter Sonata thus invites a sensitive experience, where each photograph resonates like a note, evoking the fragility, solitude and poetry of the cold season.
